Excellence in financial reporting for five straight years
El Paso County, CO – For the fifth straight year, the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) presents El Paso County Public Health (EPCPH) with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its 2022 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. EPCPH’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story.
“This recognition exemplifies our agency’s ongoing commitment to the citizens of El Paso County to maintain open and transparent financial practices,” said Susan Wheelan, MBA, director of El Paso County Public Health. “As responsible financial stewards, we consistently demonstrate transparency, accountability and integrity throughout our work in serving El Paso County communities.”
EPCPH has received nine total awards from GFOA since submitting its first Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for fiscal year 2018. In addition to the five consecutive Certificates of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, EPCPH has been awarded Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting and has received the GFOA award for Distinguished Budget Presentation three times.
