What is COVID-19?
COVID-19 is a disease caused by a virus that was identified in December 2019. COVID-19 is transmitted from person to person through the air. Symptoms of COVID-19 may include a cough, runny nose, sore throat, tiredness, body aches, fever, chills, and a new loss of taste or smell. Symptoms generally appear from two to 14 days after exposure to the virus.
Those who have symptoms of COVID-19 should isolate and ask a health care provider about COVID-19 medicine and how to take precautions. Most people with COVID-19 have a mild illness and recover in a few weeks. However, some individuals may become severely ill and some die from the disease.
